Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK featuring internet-connected cameras and full cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month, offering a cost-effective alternative to popular devices like Ring doorbells and Google’s Nest system. These plans include a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime package for £5 per month with an additional £15 upfront fee, providing features such as full HD video recording, instant alerts, customisable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking more comprehensive security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee, adding an indoor camera and additional app functionalities like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes. Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s focus on making high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly.
Previously, Sky mainly offered Protect Smart Home Insurance bundled with cameras and alarms, but these new plans allow customers to purchase Sky Smart Home products as standalone services for the first time. In comparison, Amazon sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, requiring an additional Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month for cloud recording access.
