SeatGeek Canada has received two additional fines from the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their face value. According to the province’s consumer alert platform, the latest fines imposed on the ticket resale platform this month amount to a total of $22,500.
One of the fines, totaling $15,000, was issued for allegedly offering a ticket for sale or facilitating the sale of a seat above the permitted resale price. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was imposed for allegedly not disclosing the full ticket price when a seat was purchased from an original seller.
Both the province and SeatGeek Canada have not yet provided responses regarding the specific events associated with the fines or whether the company intends to contest the penalties. Earlier in August, the province had already fined the company $25,000 for similar violations.
