Dennis Haskins, famously known for his portrayal of principal Richard Belding on the popular TV show “Saved by the Bell,” has passed away at the age of 75. Jay Schachter, his agent, confirmed this sad news in a statement to CBC News, expressing deep sorrow over the loss. Schachter praised Haskins as a wonderful person who had a genuine love for his fans, always making time for them. The agent reminisced about their 20-year professional relationship and friendship, stating that he will greatly miss Haskins.

Haskins gained widespread recognition for his role as the caring and approachable principal of Bayside High, Mr. Belding, famous for his catchphrase “Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here?” The actor, born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, initially portrayed Mr. Belding on Disney Channel’s “Good Morning, Miss Bliss,” which later evolved into the iconic series “Saved by the Bell,” running from 1989 to 1993.

Throughout his career, Haskins reprised his role on “Saved by the Bell: The New Class” and appeared in a sketch with former co-stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Elizabeth Berkley, Mario Lopez, and Tiffani Thiessen on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in 2015. Following his passing, his co-stars have taken to social media to express their love and condolences. Thiessen remembered Haskins as a guiding figure during her teenage years, appreciating his kindness and the memories shared with the cast.

Lopez, who played A.C. Slater on the show, also paid tribute to Haskins, emphasizing their lasting friendship and shared laughter. Lark Voorhies, who portrayed Lisa Turtle alongside Haskins, described their nearly 40-year friendship as a cherished blessing, highlighting his loyal and gentle nature.

Haskins’ career began in 1979 with an appearance on “The Dukes of Hazzard,” leading to a successful television and film journey. He featured in popular shows like “Mad Men,” “Hot in Cleveland,” “New Girl,” and Seth MacFarlane’s movie “A Million Ways to Die in the West.”
