Ruth’s mother, Joan, currently resides in a care home near Ruth’s residence in Surrey, experiencing severe symptoms like memory loss.

Despite her family history of dementia, Ruth admitted to occasional fears of developing the condition herself. However, she disclosed her decision against undergoing tests to assess her risk, preferring to live without the burden of anticipation.
