Quebec’s popular electric rock duo, known for their unique style of microtonality and math rock, as well as their signature black-and-white polka-dotted full-body costumes, are now inspiring Halloween costume ideas. Instead of the usual outfits like salt-and-pepper shakers, you can opt for the Angine de Poitrine couple’s costume available at Party Expert for around a couple hundred dollars per set.
Following recent media coverage, the costumes quickly sold out online but were restocked the next day. This surge in demand raises questions about whether the band’s avant-garde concept is becoming more mainstream. Fans have embraced the duo as a symbol of human creativity, praising their commitment to eccentricity, which ranges from their unconventional music style to their claim of being 333-year-old time-traveling aliens who speak a made-up language during performances.
For this Halloween season, you can embody the band’s drummer, Klek de Poitrine, with their iconic white polka-dotted costume, or transform into the guitarist, Khn de Poitrine, with the black polka-dotted ensemble, each costing approximately $105. The band chose not to provide any comments regarding the costumes when approached by CBC.
Originating from Saguenay, Quebec, the duo formed in 2019, gradually gaining recognition in the local underground music scene before releasing their debut album, “Vol. 1,” in 2024. Their breakthrough moment came with a live performance at the Festival Trans Musicales in Rennes, France, in December 2025, propelling them to fame. Their second album, “Vol. II,” released in April, garnered widespread acclaim, leading to sold-out concerts and accolades such as the Polaris Album prize and SOCAN Polaris Song Prize for their track “Fabienk.”
Drummer Klek shared in an interview with The Canadian Press that their success was a result of perfect timing and chemistry between the duo. The Party Expert’s website promises that dressing up as Angine de Poitrine will make any couple stand out at parties or competitions among the traditional Halloween characters.
While the costumes are not officially endorsed by the band, they are labeled as the “Black/White Polka Dot Attack Costume,” priced at $59.99 each, with additional masks/hats available for $44.99. Some fans are opting for DIY versions, showcasing their creativity by replicating the duo’s distinctive look with homemade costumes.
As the price of the official costumes may deter some fans, creating your interpretation of Angine de Poitrine’s eccentricity through DIY costumes can be a more budget-friendly and personalized approach.
