Police in Windsor stopped a promotional van featuring a picture of Donald Trump alongside Jeffrey Epstein, a notorious sex offender, on the day of the US President’s state visit. While the campaign group Everyone Hates Elon asserted that the van was confiscated by the Thames Valley Police, the authorities clarified that it was halted due to a potential traffic violation.
The activists behind the stunt, who had recently displayed a large banner of the photo outside Windsor Castle, expressed their intention to remind Trump of his association with Epstein wherever he goes. Video footage captured a police officer driving away with the van, which was circulating in Windsor.
A representative from Everyone Hates Elon criticized the US influence on the UK, highlighting figures like Elon Musk and Donald Trump. They objected to Trump bringing tech billionaires to the UK amidst Musk’s appearance at a far-right gathering in London. The group condemned Trump’s ties to Epstein, labeling him an abuser and emphasizing the negative impact on the UK.
Thames Valley Police stated that the van was pulled over for potential traffic violations, emphasizing the need for security measures during the state visit. No arrests were made, and the vehicle was not confiscated. The police had informed the public about increased law enforcement presence during the visit.
In a separate incident, four activists were detained after projecting the controversial image onto Windsor Castle. The timing of Trump’s visit coincided with the dismissal of Peter Mandelson as US Ambassador due to revelations about his connection to Epstein.
Trump has faced ongoing scrutiny regarding his relationship with Epstein, with speculation about withheld “Epstein files” and allegations of a cover-up among his supporters. The President has denied being friends with Epstein, despite past interactions and comments praising the disgraced financier.
Amidst controversies, the White House refuted claims that Trump had drawn a crude illustration in Epstein’s “birthday book.” Trump had previously made complimentary remarks about Epstein’s social life, but insisted that he did not endorse inappropriate behavior.
This event adds to the ongoing debate surrounding Trump’s association with Epstein and the implications for his public image.
