A woman known for her partying lifestyle suffered a significant loss of nasal tissue due to her addiction to ketamine but continued to use the drug daily for two years. Nicole Chanelle, hailing from West Yorkshire, admitted to indulging in party drugs like cocaine for a decade and a half, starting at the young age of 14. Despite an initial aversion to ketamine after a negative experience at a rave, she eventually succumbed to its allure three years ago.
Initially consuming small amounts, Nicole’s ketamine usage escalated over time, reaching up to four grams per day, costing her £149 monthly due to bulk purchases. After a year of consistent use, she noticed nasal blockages, leading to the shocking realization that a segment of her nose had disintegrated, forming a hole.
Despite the physical deformity, Nicole persisted in her drug habit for an additional two years until a friend intervened, suggesting a rehab center in India. Realizing the severity of her situation, she flew to India in May to seek treatment and distance herself from the enabling environment in the UK.
Following three months of sobriety and corrective surgery in Turkey to repair her nose, Nicole reflected on her journey, acknowledging the destructive nature of her addiction. She highlighted the allure of ketamine as a coping mechanism, emphasizing its addictive qualities and the ease of access due to its affordability.
Having narrowly escaped serious health complications associated with ketamine use, Nicole now aims to raise awareness about addiction and encourage others to seek help. She advocates for transparency, accountability, and timely intervention, stressing the importance of support systems in overcoming substance abuse.
By sharing her harrowing experience, Nicole hopes to inspire individuals struggling with addiction to prioritize their well-being and seek the necessary assistance to embark on a path to recovery.
