Myleene Klass, a former member of Hear’Say, was seen in a tearful state in her recent Instagram post as she shared the news of her eldest daughter’s upcoming departure. The 47-year-old mother of three, who has Ava, 18, with her ex-husband, Graham Quinn, expressed her emotions in the video, admitting her uncertainty about how she will handle the situation.
In the video, Myleene, dressed in a grey Sketchers hoodie, sat in her car following an appointment at the opticians. She explained that her tearful appearance was a result of a mix of emotions, including sadness and the experience of trying contact lenses for the first time.
Reflecting on her distress, she revealed, “So this is a combination of trying on contact lenses for the first time, just come from the opticians and crying in the opticians because he asked me how many children I have and their ages. I then just burst into tears and said ‘well three, but my 18-year-old is going to university in a few days’. I literally just cried all over him, which wasn’t ideal when he was fitting contact lenses.”
Myleene is the mother of daughters Ava and Hero, 14, with ex-husband Graham, and three-year-old son Apollo with her fiancé Simon Motson. She reached out to fellow mothers with older children, seeking advice on how to handle the emotional process of letting go of her firstborn.
Expressing her inner turmoil, she questioned, “Mums, how do you do this? How do you say goodbye to your first love? Is this what I’m going to do for three years? I literally want this for her, but I don’t want it for me. My baby, she hasn’t even gone yet. Oh my god, how am I going to drive her there and drive home like this.”
Feeling overwhelmed, Myleene contemplated pulling over to release her emotions before acknowledging that her feelings may seem exaggerated. She concluded by emphasizing the bittersweet nature of the situation, highlighting the challenges of adjusting to her daughter’s imminent departure.
In a separate incident, Myleene defended her daughter Ava against social media critics who labeled her as a ‘nepo baby’. She clarified that Ava’s achievements, including excelling in piano and securing a place at the Royal Academy of Music, were a result of her hard work and talent, rather than any preferential treatment due to her mother’s status.
