A man in his thirties who is involved in the world of motorsport has been accused of sexually assaulting one of the nurses who cared for Michael Schumacher. According to a report by Swiss publication 24heures, the individual is said to have committed the assault at the former Formula One champion’s residence in Gland, Switzerland.
The allegations stem from 2019 but have only recently come to public attention, with the purported victim lodging a formal complaint over two years after the incident. A trial is reportedly set to take place this week.
The accusations state that the individual assaulted the nurse, who was providing care for Schumacher after his severe skiing accident in December 2013, in an upper-floor bedroom following what was described as ‘a night of heavy drinking’.
It is alleged that the accused and the nurse encountered each other in the billiard room of the lakeside mansion in Lake Geneva.
The individual in question claims that there had been a previous encounter involving a kiss at a club in Geneva, but the nurse refutes the existence of any intimate relationship.
None of the members of the Schumacher family are implicated in the allegations, as per the indictment, which states that they were not present during the incident.
Over a decade ago, the legendary racer suffered a severe head injury in a skiing accident, leading to his need for constant care from a medical team residing at his home.
Following a lengthy 250-day period in a medically induced coma, Schumacher was eventually able to return home for ongoing treatment.
His wife, Corinna, has been discreet about the details of his care, though she did provide an update in a recent Netflix documentary.
In the documentary released in 2021, she expressed, “I miss Michael every day. But it’s not just me; it’s the kids, the family, his dad, everyone close to him.
“I mean, everyone misses Michael, but he’s here. Different, but he’s here, and that gives us strength. We’re together, living at home, undergoing therapy.
