A man who had been concealed under a concrete slab with a fatal gunshot wound for a decade has been positively identified after years of mystery.
Authorities disclosed that the remains were those of Chester Williams, discovered on August 26, 2021, in Las Vegas when a resident was demolishing a concrete slab.
Police reported that the victim succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head and is presumed to have been buried for a minimum of 10 years.
Law enforcement received a crucial tip on July 29 this year following a voicemail from a member of the public suggesting knowledge of the victim’s identity.
The informant stated that Williams had resided with her parents until he vanished between 1998 and 1999.
Furthermore, she indicated that her parents lived on the same street where Williams was found, recalling them pouring a concrete slab at the location of his disappearance.
Mohave County Sheriff’s officials mentioned, “When she inquired about him, her parents claimed he had left without a trace. She found it suspicious as all his belongings were left behind.”
She added, “Shortly after he went missing, my parents laid concrete at the scene.”
The woman’s parents, identified as Alvin and Bea Hamilton, passed away in 2006 and 2018, respectively.
Just recently, a DNA sample was obtained and confirmed the victim’s identity as Chester Williams.
In a separate incident, an individual was charged for allegedly transporting a deceased individual to a hospital before absconding, according to law enforcement.
Christopher Caron, 42, is accused of driving a black Honda Civic to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts, with a body in the backseat last week.
The suspect parked in front of the emergency entrance, informed staff about the body, and then fled while a hospital employee inspected the vehicle, officials stated.
The shocked employee uncovered the body wrapped in blankets and secured with duct tape inside the car.
The victim was identified as 27-year-old Declan Perry from Portland. Police verified that the car belonged to the victim, but the cause of death remains undisclosed.
Prior reports indicated a connection between the suspect and the victim. Neighbors mentioned assisting Caron in loading a large, heavy blanket into a black Honda Civic earlier that day.
Authorities conducted a search at Caron’s residence and seized several pieces of evidence.
