World’s top-ranked player Luke Humphries expressed that he shifted his focus away from personal performance during the significant 6-1 loss to Luke Littler at the World Grand Prix tournament. The highly anticipated final between the top two players in the global rankings was expected to be closely contested.
Nevertheless, Littler dominated from the outset, quickly establishing a commanding 4-0 lead. In a remarkable display, Littler was just one dart away from achieving a rare nine-darter in the World Grand Prix.
Despite the near miss, Littler continued his strong performance and secured a decisive 6-1 victory, claiming the £120,000 winner’s prize. Runner-up Humphries received £60,000 but expressed disappointment at the outcome.
Reflecting on the match in a post-game interview on Sky Sports, Humphries acknowledged Littler’s clinical play and mentioned his shift in focus towards entertaining the audience. He lamented his lack of success with his favored double 16 during the match.
Humphries emphasized his determination to improve, recognizing the need to work harder to challenge Littler in future competitions. Meanwhile, Littler revealed his immediate plans to participate in the World Youth Championships in Wigan the following day, aiming to enjoy the experience and give his best effort.
As Humphries looks to enhance his skills, Sky has announced a reduced price for its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, with significant savings and an expanded lineup of over 1,400 live matches across various leagues. Sky will broadcast a minimum of 215 live Premier League matches next season, an increase of up to 100 games compared to previous seasons.
