Lewis Hamilton has sadly announced the passing of his beloved bulldog, Roscoe. The seven-time Formula 1 champion had been by Roscoe’s side since Wednesday when he quickly took him to a veterinary clinic after a concerning decline in his health.
Unfortunately, Roscoe’s condition worsened on Friday as Hamilton revealed that his dog had fallen into a coma, expressing his worries about the possibility of not being able to revive him. Hamilton shared on social media, “Please keep Roscoe in your thoughts. I want to keep you all updated. Roscoe caught pneumonia again and was struggling to breathe.”
Tragically, Hamilton later informed his followers that Roscoe, who was around 13 years old, had passed away. Posting a message, Hamilton expressed his grief, saying, “Lost my best friend last night. Thank you all for the love you’ve shown him over the years. Roscoe forever.”
Hamilton introduced Roscoe into his life in 2013, and the cherished bulldog accompanied him to various F1 races in Silverstone and across Europe over the years. Roscoe was last seen at the British Grand Prix in July, making his debut appearance at a fan event with Hamilton as a Ferrari driver.
Despite his absence at the Italian Grand Prix, where Hamilton had hoped to bring him, Roscoe had garnered a massive following on his own Instagram page with 1.3 million followers. Fans of both Hamilton and Roscoe were quick to express their condolences after the heartbreaking news of Roscoe’s passing.
Hamilton had been set to travel to Italy for a Pirelli tyre test but decided to stay with Roscoe instead. Reserve driver Zhou Guanyu took his place at the track, partnering with Charles Leclerc for the test.
