An Israeli military airstrike in the central Gaza Strip resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians, including a three-year-old child, as confirmed by health officials on Sunday. The strike took place near a bakery in Deir al-Balah and claimed the lives of Tayyem Hamdan, 3, and Hussam Nusair, along with several others sustaining injuries.

According to Gaza medics, the Israeli military stated that the attack targeted and eliminated a Hamas militant, with Nusair being accused of leading assaults against Israeli forces and civilians. Hamas has not yet responded to these allegations.

Despite a U.S.-supported ceasefire last October that brought a pause to major conflict in the region, Israeli military actions have continued, aiming to prevent attacks by Hamas and other Gaza militants. Hamas has accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire, hindering efforts to implement a broader peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, which includes Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament.

Since the ceasefire was initiated last October, over 1,300 Palestinians in Gaza have lost their lives, as reported by health officials in Gaza. In contrast, the Israeli military has reported the deaths of four Israeli soldiers during the same period.
