A senior citizen initially declared deceased caused a shocking surprise for morticians by seemingly coming back to life after being pronounced dead. The 90-year-old patient was admitted to the hospital for treatment on September 1 and experienced a cardiac arrest in the early hours of the following day.

Despite apparent resuscitation efforts failing, the elderly man was pronounced dead in the emergency room. However, upon arrival at the morgue, it became evident that the man, previously presumed deceased, was exhibiting vital signs.

Family members arriving at the morgue in Palmeira dos Índios, Brazil, at 6 am were astonished to observe that their loved one was still breathing. Subsequent examinations confirmed that the individual was indeed breathing and had a pulse.

Following his release from the morgue, the man was readmitted to the UPA emergency care unit but tragically remained unresponsive and passed away in the early morning hours. Termed “autoresuscitation,” this spontaneous return of circulation after CPR cessation may seem miraculous but typically does not lead to prolonged survival.
