A dispute surrounding Neutrogena, a skincare brand, that emerged in May has resurfaced with the passing of Hayden Panettiere. The actress, known for her roles in “Heroes,” “Bring it On: All or Nothing,” and “Nashville,” was a global ambassador for Neutrogena from 2005 to 2015. In 2014, she gave birth to a daughter and publicly discussed her battle with postpartum depression on “Live with Kelly and Michael” in 2015. Following this, her partnership with Neutrogena came to an end.
During a recent podcast interview with Jay Shetty, Panettiere claimed that Neutrogena had attempted to terminate her contract in 2015 due to her remarks about postpartum depression. Despite objections from her representative, Panettiere believed she would not be asked to represent Neutrogena again the following year.
Panettiere expressed disappointment that she did not receive any communication from Neutrogena after the contract incident, highlighting the stigma and misunderstanding surrounding postpartum depression. Efforts to obtain more information from Neutrogena’s parent company, Kenvue, regarding the partnership termination have been unsuccessful.
In 2018, Panettiere entrusted full custody of her daughter Kaya to her former fiancé Wladimir Klitschko due to her struggles with addiction and postpartum depression. Subsequently, fans initiated a boycott against Neutrogena following the podcast release, with one beauty influencer incorporating podcast audio into a video titled “Neutrogena hates women!”
After Panettiere’s death, fans have resumed their criticism of Neutrogena on social media platforms like Instagram and Threads, urging the company to address the allegations publicly. The backlash includes comments questioning Neutrogena’s actions regarding Panettiere’s postpartum depression struggles.
Amidst these developments, Panettiere’s 11-year-old daughter Kaya is now under the care of Klitschko, who expressed his respect for Panettiere as a talented individual who departed the world prematurely.
