Google is set to introduce a new feature in Gmail that aims to simplify managing subscriptions and decluttering inboxes. The upcoming “Manage subscriptions” function will allow users to easily view all active subscriptions and track the number of messages received from companies in recent weeks.

Within the Gmail settings, users will find a one-touch option to unsubscribe from subscriptions that no longer interest them or from companies that overwhelm them with messages. When selected, Gmail will automatically send an unsubscribe request to the sender, streamlining the process for users.

Explaining the motivation behind this feature, Google highlighted the challenge of dealing with a flood of subscription emails, including irrelevant daily deal alerts, unread blog newsletters, and outdated retailer promotions. The “Manage subscriptions” feature aims to provide a centralized location for users to efficiently unsubscribe from unwanted emails.

To access this feature, users can click on the navigation bar in the top-left corner of their inbox and select “Manage subscriptions.” Google has announced that the ability to manage subscriptions will be gradually rolled out on the web, Android, and iOS platforms in select countries.

In addition to empowering users to control their inbox content, Google emphasized its ongoing efforts to enhance email security. The company reported blocking more than 99.9% of spam, phishing, and malware, with recent AI-based defenses reducing scam emails by 35%.
