Users of Fire TV Stick will soon lose access to the Freevee app, as Amazon announced its shutdown at the end of August. Starting September 1, 2025, the app will cease to function on Fire TV Sticks, iOS, and Android devices.
Freevee, an ad-supported app by Amazon offering free streams of movies, TV shows, and live TV broadcasts, hosts popular shows like Jury Duty, Alex Rider, Bosch: Legacy, and Hell’s Kitchen USA.
All Freevee content will transition to Amazon’s Prime Video app to streamline services. Users can continue watching for free by downloading Prime Video, logging in with their Amazon account, and accessing both free and subscription-based content. This strategic move may encourage Freevee users to subscribe to Prime Video.
A notification within the Freevee app informed users that Prime Video will become the exclusive platform for Freevee content, with the Freevee app accessible until August 2025. After September 1, all users will be directed to use the Prime Video app.
Existing Prime Video subscribers will benefit from accessing all Amazon content in a single app, eliminating the need to switch between Freevee and Prime Video for content.
