In the realm of television entertainment, Freeview and Sky stand out as premier choices. These platforms boast large user bases in the UK for good reason. Freeview provides free content, while Sky offers premium channels and exclusive sports content not found on regular TV services.
Among these established options, a newer player has emerged with an intriguing proposition. Freely, a relatively recent entrant, operates differently by utilizing broadband connections to deliver content to TVs instead of traditional aerials or dishes. This model resembles Sky’s Glass TVs, which also rely on web connectivity.
Moreover, Freely comes integrated into many modern televisions, eliminating the need for external set-top boxes or dongles protruding from screens.
Adding to its appeal, Channel 4 has recently announced the launch of three new streaming channels exclusively on Freely. This unique offering restricts access to only those with Freely-enabled screens.
The latest channels introduced are 4Reality, 4Homes, and 4Life, marking Channel 4’s debut into streaming platforms in the UK.
Viewers can find 4Reality on channel 67, 4Homes on channel 68, and 4Life on channel 82.
There is speculation that Freely might eventually rival Freeview as more individuals transition from traditional television to streaming services. It is noteworthy that Everyone TV, the company behind Freeview, owns Freely.
“We’re at the forefront among UK broadcasters in enhancing Freely’s features,” stated Grace Boswood, Channel 4’s Director of Technology & Distribution.
In a similar vein, Jonathan Thompson, CEO of Everyone TV, expressed enthusiasm about expanding high-quality streamed content in collaboration with Channel 4. Freely already offers a vast array of shows without a costly monthly subscription, and now presents exclusive channels featuring entertaining programs from Channel 4 on 4Reality, 4Homes, and 4Life — unique channels not found elsewhere.
Here are the details of the new channels and their content:
• 4Reality (channel 67): An assortment of reality TV shows from Channel 4, encompassing real-life drama, humor, romance, and competition from popular series like Married at First Sight, Naked Attraction, and First Dates to Made in Chelsea.
• 4Homes (channel 68): Showcasing diverse homes from luxurious estates to quaint spaces, featuring programs such as Grand Designs, A Place in the Sun, and Location, Location, Location.
• 4Life (channel 82): Portraying real-life stories, individuals, and animals, along with delectable cuisine. Highlighting remarkable people in scenic locales, 4Life offers content genres
