This holiday season, I made the decision to decorate my home for Christmas earlier than usual. When individuals choose to do so and share it on social platforms, they often face criticism and negative comments. However, in the realm of social media, it’s impossible to please everyone, so prioritizing personal joy is key.
The early start to my decorations this year is due to the proximity of my birthday to Christmas, followed closely by my partner’s birthday. This typically results in us not being home during the holiday season. By setting up the decorations at the beginning of December, we aimed to maximize our enjoyment of them, considering their beauty and the limited time we usually have to revel in them.
Amidst the current wave of troubling news globally, I strongly believe in the power of small gestures like early Christmas decorations to bring happiness. It’s a harmless act that can lift spirits, especially in such trying times.
The act of decorating for Christmas is not only enjoyable but also a way to create a festive atmosphere at home without spending much money, assuming you already possess the necessary decor items. Embracing the holiday spirit by playing Christmas music, dancing around the living room, and unwinding with a warm beverage can be a delightful experience.
With Christmas-related advertisements and events becoming more prevalent as the holiday approaches, joining in on the festive preparations can be a mood lifter. Unpacking cherished decorations collected over the years, including sentimental ornaments, can evoke warm emotions and create a sense of tradition and belonging with loved ones.
In our case, we incorporated baubles from past vacations, handmade ornaments from friends, and the beloved Jellycat decorations that have become a staple on our tree. Additionally, we purchased a fresh wreath from a local market to adorn our door, being among the first in our neighborhood to do so.
For those feeling a bit like a “Scrooge,” I encourage you to embrace the holiday spirit by engaging in festive activities. Crank up the Christmas music, immerse yourself in the cheerful vibe, and let the joy of the season envelop you. It’s a simple yet effective way to uplift your mood and create lasting memories.
Remember, the essence of the holiday season lies in spreading joy and creating meaningful moments with loved ones. So, if the opportunity arises, seize it and bask in the magic of the season.
