“BT Unveils Smart Hub 3 with Advanced Security & Wi-Fi Enhancements”

Published on

BT has introduced a new method to access the internet, offering more than just basic connectivity. The latest Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router from the company will soon be available in UK households, boasting enhanced connectivity and advanced security features.

Equipped with technology that can automatically detect harmful websites, the router alerts users to potential malware and online threats before any damage occurs. Additionally, it has the capability to identify unauthorized attempts by hackers to access smart home devices like internet-connected cameras, preemptively blocking suspicious activities.

Users can conveniently monitor any identified threats using the Hub Threat Protect feature within the MyBT app. These enhancements are designed to assist households in enhancing their online security measures and proactively safeguarding against cyberattacks.

In addition to security enhancements, the Smart Hub 3 prioritizes performance. Supporting Complete Wi-Fi Plus, it extends signal coverage throughout the home, reducing dead zones in areas with weaker connectivity.

The Smart Hub 3 features a sleek, minimalist design with a small BT logo at its center, as revealed in images viewed online. Notably, the router is compatible with Wi-Fi 6 technology rather than the newer Wi-Fi 7 standard present in some competing devices, such as those from EE.

While Wi-Fi 7 delivers faster speeds, reduced latency, and enhanced reliability, many current devices do not yet support this standard. As a result, Wi-Fi 6 remains highly capable for most households, representing a significant improvement over older Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 equipment.

To acquire this new router, BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be accessible to new customers, with potential upgrade options available for select existing users.

Wi-Fi 6 enhances wireless performance by boosting speed, efficiency, and capacity compared to previous standards. On the other hand, Wi-Fi 7 provides broader 320 MHz channels, decreased latency, and even higher speeds, making it particularly beneficial for gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home configurations.

For the majority of users at present, Wi-Fi 6 remains an excellent choice, whereas Wi-Fi 7 represents a more forward-looking solution.
