A 62-year-old British woman, Sue Adams, is currently in critical condition at an Ibiza hospital after collapsing in her hotel bathroom due to suspected heat stroke. Sue, along with her husband James, arrived on the Balearic island on August 29 for a vacation. They spent their first day relaxing by the pool and having dinner before returning to their hotel room around 9:30 pm.
James discovered his wife unresponsive and unconscious on the bathroom floor with a swollen eye at 4 am when he heard a noise. He immediately sought help and called an ambulance. Sue was taken to the hospital, where scans revealed minor fractures but no internal bleeding. She was put on a ventilator and sedated to aid her recovery, facing complications such as a lung infection and failing kidneys.
Despite efforts to determine the exact cause of Sue’s condition, James suspects heat stroke may have triggered her collapse, leading to a head injury and subsequent seizure. As Sue remains in a medically induced coma, James is facing financial strain covering expenses for accommodation, food, and hospital visits. To alleviate this burden, a GoFundMe page has been set up by one of James’ sons to support the family during this challenging time.
While Sue’s medical expenses are covered by the NHS through a temporary GHIC, James still incurs costs to stay in Spain with his wife. He hopes to raise enough funds to continue being by her side during her recovery process and potentially bring her back to the UK sooner. The family’s financial resources are limited, and any support through the fundraising campaign would be greatly appreciated to ensure Sue’s well-being and eventual return home.
