A tragic incident unfolded at Gran Canaria’s airport where a 53-year-old British man fell from a multi-storey car park, resulting in his death. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene following the fall of over 30 feet early in the morning at around 7:30 am.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The man, identified only by his age and nationality, was not a tourist, according to the police. The National Police spokesperson stated that the man fell from a height of approximately three storeys, about 10 meters, at the car park near the domestic departures area.
Reports suggest that the man fell through a gap inside the car park, prompting the police to explore whether the incident was accidental, related to structural issues, or a deliberate act. CCTV footage in the area is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
This unfortunate event follows a previous incident in which a 25-year-old British tourist passed away from injuries sustained in a fall from a supermarket car park in San Antonio. Notably, Gran Canaria’s airport was also the site of a fatal shooting in May involving a Gambian teenager who reportedly threatened holidaymakers with a knife. During the incident, the teenager was shot by armed police after he refused to comply with warnings to stop his aggressive behavior, leading to his tragic death.
