Brighton & Hove Albion reveals the signing of Canadian striker Promise David on a season-long loan from Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium. The agreement includes a stipulated fee of $29.7 million US for a permanent transfer should specific conditions be met. This deal marks a record-breaking transfer fee for Union, confirming David’s imminent move to the Premier League starting next season.

David, who achieved notable success at Union with 41 goals in 82 appearances, played a pivotal role in securing the club’s first league title in 90 years during the 2025 season. The 25-year-old forward, hailing from Brampton, Ontario, showcased his talents on the international stage by representing Canada at the recent World Cup, contributing one goal despite limited playing time due to a hip injury. His impressive performance earned him four goals in 14 appearances for the Canadian national team.

Although David initially debuted for Nigeria’s under-23 team in October 2022, he successfully switched his allegiance to Canada in February 2025 following discussions with coach Jesse Marsch and FIFA approval.
