Ricky Hatton’s former partner, Chelsea Claire, expressed deep sorrow following the announcement of the boxer’s passing, sharing a heartfelt message on social media. Authorities in Greater Manchester disclosed the discovery of a body at his residence, clarifying that the incident is not considered suspicious.
The boxer, hailing from Stockport and aged 46, had his home on Bowlacre Road in Gee Cross, Hyde cordoned off by the police. This tragic development comes shortly after Hatton revealed his intention to return to boxing, with a scheduled match in December.
In a tribute on her social media account, Chelsea, who dated Hatton in 2023 after they met at a nightclub in Spain, described him as an ‘inspiration.’ She posted a photo of them together, expressing profound sadness at his loss.
The couple first met at The Dubliner Bar in Tenerife during the summer of 2023, quickly forming a close bond. Chelsea shared that she initially didn’t recognize Hatton but was impressed by his down-to-earth nature and sense of humor.
Another former girlfriend, Claire Sweeney, had previously shown support for Hatton, which now takes on a poignant tone following his untimely death. Hatton had been preparing for a middleweight bout against Eisa Al Dah in Dubai on December 2 but had to withdraw after sustaining an eye injury at a concert.
In a gesture of solidarity, Coronation Street star Claire, who had been in a relationship with Hatton, posted a video of the fight announcement on Instagram, expressing her excitement.
The press conference for Hatton’s upcoming match with Eisa Aldah was scheduled for the following day, Monday, September 15.
