Police have discovered a body while searching for a man who was last seen entering a taxi over the weekend. Richard Thornton, a resident of Greater Manchester, disappeared from the Werneth Low area early on Saturday. Efforts were made by his loved ones to find him through social media appeals.
Tragically, Greater Manchester Police confirmed the recovery of a body believed to be that of Mr. Thornton. He was last spotted more than 48 hours ago, with video footage showing him getting into a taxi. Leaving an address around 5am on Saturday, his phone’s last location was near Stockport’s Stepping Hill Hospital.
The authorities located the body this morning off Mottram Old Road, Hyde, as reported by Manchester Evening News. Greater Manchester Police stated, “We can confirm that the body of the missing man, Richard Thornton, has been found deceased. Enquiries to locate him had been ongoing since he was reported missing on Saturday.” The family has been notified, and no foul play is suspected in his death.
