Published on

A body was found at a waste site, prompting an investigation by the authorities. Cleveland Police responded to the incident at the SUEZ facility on Haverton Hill Road in Billingham on September 24. The waste area of the site is currently closed, while the recycling center remains operational. Details about the individual’s identity are yet to be disclosed as the police are actively investigating to determine the person’s sex and age.

Cleveland Police has confirmed the establishment of a crime scene at the waste site, but there is no visible police presence from the public road. A police spokesperson stated that they were alerted to the discovery of a body at the waste facility and are conducting an investigation to identify the deceased and the circumstances surrounding their presence at the site.

The body was located at the SUEZ recycling and recovery UK site, which serves businesses in the North of England. Due to the ongoing police inquiry, the SUEZ energy-from-waste facility at Haverton Hill is temporarily closed.

Following the incident, many individuals have expressed shock and offered condolences on social media platforms. In a separate incident, an investigation is ongoing after human remains were found at a recycling plant in Hartlepool. Detectives and forensic teams were dispatched to the Biffa recycling plant, where human bones were discovered. The police concluded their initial investigation at the plant after a week and described the case as “extremely complex and sensitive.”
