The discovery, made by the Kaspersky team, highlights a deceptive tactic where users are directed to a fake version of the Starlink app associated with Elon Musk. Despite its appearance on the Google Play Store with authentic branding, the app is fraudulent.

Kaspersky described the new variant of BeatBanker as a sophisticated mobile threat that spreads through fake websites mimicking Google Play. The threat has so far been identified in regions like Brazil, with no reported incidents in Europe or the UK. Nonetheless, it serves as a cautionary reminder not to download applications from unofficial sources.
