In the lead-up to the festive season in London, Apple’s iPad is showcasing 24 holiday-themed designs on Battersea Power Station’s iconic towers. These vibrant artworks, selected from numerous public submissions in Apple’s “Your Tree on Battersea” competition, will illuminate the towering chimneys above the River Thames at night.
Participants like Varsha Simha from Canterbury are thrilled to be part of this initiative, drawing inspiration from traditional Christmas elements like sweaters and stockings. Another winner, 7-year-old Miah D.B, expressed joy at being selected, sharing that creating the tree design on an iPad allowed for artistic expression influenced by emotions.
Celebrity contributions to the display include artworks by Kylie Minogue, Sir Stephen Fry, Maro Itoje, Oliver Jeffers, David Shrigley OBE, and Chawawa. This competition continues Apple’s tradition of promoting festive creativity and marks the company’s first public engagement in such an event.
Previously, in 2023, artist David Hockney showcased “Bigger Christmas Trees on iPad Pro,” and last year, Aardman utilized the iPhone 16 Pro Max for a short animation. Chawawa, reflecting on the significance of hosting the iPad Christmas tree competition, highlighted the sentimental journey from childhood visits to the Apple store to leading the Battersea project.
The illuminated images will adorn Battersea until Christmas Eve, creating a magical spectacle for residents and visitors alike to enjoy.
