An online personality has criticized individuals known as “trolls” for causing a situation where he was confronted by armed police at a hospital in the UK while he was with his newborn twin daughters.
The individual, Sam Walker, recounted the incident where armed officers arrived at Arrowe Park Hospital in Wirral around 4 pm on Sunday, August 17, and subsequently took him into custody. Merseyside Police confirmed the arrest of a 42-year-old man, previously from Liverpool, on suspicion of possessing a firearm. Walker later disclosed on TikTok that he was the one detained, attributing the ordeal to a false report instigated by online “trolls.”
Walker, who identifies as an influencer with a substantial online following, hails from Liverpool but has resided in Spain, sharing content about his travels to countries like Sierra Leone, Turkey, and Thailand. While he has mentioned encounters with criminals, he has also faced accusations of embellishing stories.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Walker described how the joy of welcoming his daughters turned into fear upon the police’s abrupt arrival. He recounted, “The trolls contacted the hospital knowing I was there, falsely claiming I possessed firearms and that a dangerous situation was unfolding. They misled the police into believing I was armed and hazardous.”
He further narrated the distressing moment when armed officers barged into the room where he held his two-day-old babies. Walker complied with the authorities’ request to hand over the infants to their mother before being taken into custody. After four hours, he was released, with the police confirming no further action would be taken following an investigation.
Expressing confidence in his innocence, Walker acknowledged the police’s handling of the situation, praising their reassurance to his family and other hospital occupants. He emphasized the need for accountability for those responsible for the hoax call that led to the incident.
Calling for repercussions against the perpetrators, Walker stressed the severity of making false claims that jeopardize the safety of innocent individuals in a hospital setting. Merseyside Police stated that no additional measures would be taken after thoroughly investigating the matter and informing the arrested individual of the outcome.
