President Donald Trump’s State Visit to the UK has sparked controversy, but it presents an opportunity for King Charles to reunite with his friend and long-time penpal, Melania Trump.

The unexpected friendship between King Charles and Melania began in 2005 during Charles’s visit to the United States. Over the years, they have maintained their connection through a consistent exchange of letters.

Their shared passion for environmental conservation has been a key factor in solidifying their bond. Both Charles and Melania are deeply committed to preserving the natural world, a common interest that has strengthened their relationship.

In her memoir, Melania disclosed the ongoing correspondence with King Charles III, emphasizing the continuous exchange of letters between them and expressing admiration for their shared dedication to environmental causes.

Apart from environmental issues, the duo also frequently engages in conversations about mutual interests such as architecture, gardens, and the arts.

Known for his handwritten letters, King Charles values the art of correspondence and often uses it as a means of personal expression and connection with various individuals, including politicians, celebrities, and ordinary citizens.

Upon their arrival in London via Air Force One, the Trumps were welcomed by Warren Stephens, the US ambassador to the UK, and Viscount Hood, who serves as King Charles’s lord-in-waiting.

Their official engagements are set to commence on Wednesday morning, starting with a welcome from Prince and Princess of Wales, followed by an official reception by King Charles and Queen Camilla. Subsequently, a carriage procession through Windsor, escorted by the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, will take place.

During the state visit, President Trump will participate in various activities, including inspecting the Guard of Honour and attending a state banquet at St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle, where a grand table can accommodate up to 160 guests.

On the following day, President Trump will depart for Chequers, the British Prime Minister’s country residence, for meetings with Prime Minister Starmer and a business reception hosted by Chancellor Rachel Reeves. Meanwhile, Melania will remain at Windsor for engagements with Queen Camilla and Princess Kate before rejoining the President in the evening.
