The partner of professional golfer Jake Knapp on the PGA Tour, Makena White, has passed away at the age of 28. The couple began their relationship in August 2023 and went public in 2024 following Knapp’s first PGA Tour victory at the Mexico Open.
Knapp, who started his professional career in 2016, has achieved one career win and secured four top-10 finishes this year. Despite his successes, he did not make the cut to join Team USA in the ongoing Ryder Cup.
Originally from Canada, White worked in surgical sales, specializing in providing medical equipment to vascular and cardiac surgeons. She was known to have a strong interest in sports, particularly hockey, and developed a passion for golf from a young age.
A statement shared on social media by a friend of White confirmed her untimely passing, expressing deep sorrow for the loss and highlighting her exceptional qualities.
The pair had been seen together on White’s Instagram account, enjoying the landscapes at North Berwick during the Genesis Scottish Open where Knapp achieved a tied 22nd place finish.
In one of her final Instagram posts, the 28-year-old expressed her love for the PGA tour golfer in a heartfelt message, reflecting on their journey together and looking forward to more shared experiences.
