A police incident led to the closure of a significant section of the M60 this morning, causing delays for drivers during rush hour. The motorway shut down in both directions from junction 6 (Sale) to junction 8 (Carrington), with Greater Manchester Police addressing a “concern for welfare incident.”
Police successfully removed a man from the M60 area, who is now under medical care. The motorway has since reopened between junctions 6 and 8. The Bee Network reported 40-minute delays on some bus services affected by the closure.
Drivers were advised to expect delays of around an hour near junctions 6 and 8 following the morning closure. Traffic is anticipated to ease with the motorway now accessible.
The M60 has resumed operation in both directions after the closure earlier between Junction 6 and 8. National Highways noted delays of at least an hour in both directions, which are expected to diminish soon.
Bus services experienced delays in Trafford due to the M60 closure, with some routes delayed by up to 20 minutes. Police presence continues at the scene, and delays are currently surpassing two hours in both directions.
Commuters were urged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time due to heavy delays on the closed M60 section. Inrix reported severe delays near the closure, affecting traffic on both sides of the motorway.
