Rory McIlroy’s former agent has expressed skepticism about Team USA’s prospects in the upcoming Ryder Cup. The prestigious golf tournament is scheduled to be held from September 26 to 28 at the Black Course in Bethpage State Park, New York.

Team Europe currently holds the Ryder Cup title following their impressive victory in Rome back in 2023. McIlroy, who recently won the Masters, was a standout performer for Team Europe in the last edition. This year, the teams will be captained by Luke Donald and Keegan Bradley, with Team USA aiming to replicate their record-breaking win from 2021.

The American team boasts top players like US Open champion JJ Spaun and Scottie Scheffler, who has been dominating the golf scene with wins at the PGA Championship and The Open Championship.

Despite the strong lineup of Team USA, McIlroy’s ex-agent believes that Europe has several advantages, including consistent pairings, experienced players, and strong tournament presence in America. He highlighted the emergence of Tommy Fleetwood as a key factor, noting Fleetwood’s recent successes and growing popularity among fans.

Fleetwood, who clinched his first PGA Tour victory at the Tour Championship, played a pivotal role in the 2023 Ryder Cup alongside McIlroy. With a team full of personality and resilience, Europe is poised to deliver a strong performance according to Chandler. He also praised Luke Donald’s leadership as captain and expressed doubts about the American team’s enthusiasm and chances of winning the tournament.
