Harry Potter fans are discovering the past engagement between Bonnie Wright, known for her role as Ginny Weasley in the iconic film series, and a prominent actor from Stranger Things.
Bonnie, 34, portrayed Ginny for a decade, debuting in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 2001 and concluding with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 2011.
In addition to her work in the Harry Potter franchise, Bonnie has appeared in various independent films, including Before I Sleep, The Sea, and After the Dark. She married her longtime partner Andrew Lococo in 2022, welcoming their first child, a son, in September 2023.
Surprising many fans, it has come to light that Bonnie was previously engaged to Jamie Campbell Bower, who played Vecna in Netflix’s Stranger Things. Their relationship began on the set of The Deathly Hallows Part 1 in 2010, where Jamie starred as a young Gellert Grindelwald.
Following speculation about their engagement, Jamie confirmed the news in April of the following year, expressing his happiness at the time. However, the couple went their separate ways in June 2012, with Jamie subsequently romantically linked to Lily Collins and currently to YouTuber Elena Taber.
Fans have expressed their amazement on social media at the connection between the worlds of Stranger Things and Harry Potter, especially upon learning about Bonnie and Jamie’s past engagement.
As more cast members are announced for HBO’s upcoming TV adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books, including new audiobooks, excitement continues to build. Joining the magical franchise are stars like Hugh Laurie, Matthew Macfadyen, Keira Knightley, and Riz Ahmed.
Both the entire Harry Potter film series and all four seasons of Stranger Things are currently accessible on Netflix.
