Donald Trump praised the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, suggesting that Kirk had the potential to become a future President of the United States. Kirk, a close ally of Trump and co-founder of Turning Point USA, tragically passed away after being shot in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University.

During a ceremony at the Pentagon honoring 9/11 victims, Trump announced his intention to posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom. CNBC anchor Joe Kernen shared that Trump expressed his admiration for Kirk’s abilities and contributions, believing that Kirk could have one day held the presidency.

At the Pentagon event, Trump described Kirk as a “giant of his generation” and a beacon of liberty who inspired millions. Turning Point USA, the organization founded by Kirk, lauded his passion for life and his commitment to making a difference as an individual.

Following Kirk’s assassination, historically black universities such as Alabama State University, Hampton University, and Virginia State University faced threats, leading to class cancellations and lockdowns. In Washington DC, senators were alerted to a police response at the Democratic National Committee, which was later deemed a non-credible threat by Capitol Police.

Vice President JD Vance, a friend of Kirk, traveled to Utah to pay his respects and is set to accompany Kirk’s casket and family to Arizona on Air Force Two.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the US, is bestowed by the President, and Kirk’s legacy continues to be honored by those who knew him well.
