Daniel Dubois has parted ways with trainer Don Charles following his defeat by Oleksandr Usyk. Dubois has now enlisted the help of former Anthony Joshua coach Tony Sims to steer his career back on course. This decision comes after Charles’ assistant trainer Kieran Farrell also announced his departure from the team.

Two years ago, Dubois began training under Charles following a period with Shane McGuigan and Mark Tibbs. Charles was in Dubois’ corner for his notable victories against Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic, and Anthony Joshua, which led to Dubois being crowned world champion after Usyk relinquished his IBF belt.

Usyk first defeated Dubois in 2023 and repeated his triumph two years later with a knockout in the fifth round. Dubois is not expected to return to the ring this year as he plans his comeback.

Following his loss to Usyk, it was revealed that Dubois’ father hosted a gathering at their home just hours before the fight. Charles clarified that it was not a party but a gathering that provided positive energy, similar to the one before Dubois’ victorious match against Anthony Joshua.

Charles emphasized that the gathering played a significant role in Dubois’ success and defended the decision to replicate it for the Usyk fight. He explained that the energy from the gathering was carried into the ring, contributing to Dubois’ performance.
