Matthew Perry’s portrayal of Chandler Bing on the popular sitcom “Friends” endeared him to fans for years. His unexpected death in 2023 shed light on his ketamine addiction, causing many to grapple with the contrast between the real-life struggles of the actor and the beloved character he played.

Netflix has announced a forthcoming three-part documentary series titled “The One About Matthew Perry,” aiming to provide a comprehensive look at the actor’s life. The series will delve into Perry’s evolution from a rising comedic talent to his iconic role on “Friends,” featuring never-before-heard accounts from his inner circle, including his sister Mia Perry Bowick, a grief specialist.

Bowick, who has publicly shared her grieving process following Perry’s passing, expressed her readiness to reveal the complexities of his life and their relationship beyond his public persona. Perry tragically passed away at the age of 54 due to a ketamine overdose in his backyard hot tub. Several individuals have pleaded guilty to involvement in providing him with the drug, with one, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, currently appealing his sentence for selling ketamine to Perry.

The documentary series is set to offer a balanced portrayal of Perry, showcasing not only his achievements but also his personal struggles, in an effort to honor his legacy of transparency and advocacy. Scheduled to premiere on October 27, the docuseries aims to provide a deeper understanding of the man behind the iconic character Chandler Bing.
