CBC is expanding its presence in Canadian curling through a new five-year broadcast agreement that will increase coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling playoffs and all Rock League games on its platforms. The deal with The Curling Group, revealed on Thursday, will result in over 300 hours of combined television content on CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season.

A significant development for CBC is its involvement with Rock League. The professional league, which launched its first season in April, is set to return to CBC in January 2027. Every game will be accessible on CBC television and CBC Gem, while selected matches will also be shown on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.

Rock League features six mixed-gender teams composed of curlers from various countries. The upcoming season will include events on designated weekends in January and April, with games scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.

In addition to Rock League, CBC will have an expanded role in the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet will remain the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events, commencing in October. The coverage will include three draws per day from Tuesday to Friday, with CBC and CBC Gem joining Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage. Sportsnet will broadcast the championship finals on Sundays, while CBC will also showcase certain finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday through Saturday will continue to be streamed on Rock Channel.

This new agreement reinforces CBC’s extensive history with curling and enhances its presence at major Canadian curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm about continuing to share Rock League with audiences nationwide.

The agreements with The Curling Group will provide both the Grand Slam and Rock League with a broader national viewership. Nic Sulsky, CEO and co-founder of The Curling Group, hailed the agreements as a pivotal moment for the sport.
