“Corgi Race Vilnius: International Herding Dog Celebration”

Published on

Over 150 corgis gathered for an international race in Vilnius, Lithuania, celebrating the small herding dogs that originated in Wales. The event featured a costume parade, a “smartest nose” challenge, and a competition for the loudest bark. Participants from nine countries, including the United States and Britain, competed in various events.

Organizer Edvinas Miskas mentioned that the Corgi Race Vilnius has grown significantly, with 150 corgis from different countries participating this year. The main running event saw 94 dogs competing in qualifiers, semifinals, and the final, where American corgi GG emerged as the winner.

Apart from speed races, the event showcased the dogs’ other talents through activities like a costume parade and a “smartest nose” challenge. A corgi named Mr. Corgington won the title for the loudest bark, while Latvian corgis Tora and Rusty shared the victory in the “smartest nose” category.

The competition also included a diverse array of costumes, with one corgi named Amigo winning both the jury and public vote for its knight-like outfit. Despite not participating in the main race due to age, British corgi Duke impressed in the loudest bark contest after a lifetime of training.

In addition to the races, the event highlighted the unique skills of corgis and their owners, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere for participants and spectators alike.
