Jessica Ennis-Hill, the Olympic champion, will be participating in Kevin Sinfield’s fundraising event for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in Sheffield.

Ennis-Hill, a resident of Sheffield, has agreed to run alongside Sinfield during the fourth stage of his ‘7 in 7 Together’ challenge on Thursday.

Sinfield, who commenced the challenge on Monday, aims to complete an ultra marathon daily for a week.

This marks Sinfield’s sixth consecutive charitable event in support of MND causes, having raised over £10 million to date. The funds have contributed to the establishment of a pioneering center in Leeds, the first of its kind in the country.

Motivated by the diagnosis of his former teammate Rob Burrow with MND, Sinfield, the ex-England and Leeds Rhinos star, initiated these challenges.

Sinfield’s remarkable endeavors have garnered global acclaim, with Jessica Ennis-Hill lending her support to his latest endeavor, adding significant momentum to MND awareness efforts.

A gold medalist in the heptathlon at the 2012 Olympics, Ennis-Hill is a three-time world champion. Since retiring from athletics in 2016, she has pursued a successful media career and serves as a patron for various charities, including the Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Barrie Wells’ sports foundation.

Sinfield continues his quest to find a cure for MND, emphasizing the ongoing need for support. The recent diagnosis of MND in England’s World Cup winner Lewis Moody serves as a stark reminder of the importance of sustained advocacy.

Moody plans to host a fundraising dinner in April and organize a charity bike ride in 2026. Sinfield’s challenge will proceed to Cumbria and Scotland before concluding in Leeds on Sunday.
