A woman aged 52 tragically died in a skydiving accident when her parachute malfunctioned during a solo jump. Rosana Mabel Back, a therapist and writer, was using unfamiliar equipment during the incident at a local center south of Buenos Aires, Argentina. After leaping from the plane, her parachute failed to open, leading to her fatal fall in Miramar, about 200 miles from Buenos Aires on Sunday. Aero Club Miramar expressed deep regret over the tragedy and offered condolences to her family and friends.
The Argentine Writer’s Society also paid tribute to Rosana, highlighting her positive attributes and expressing condolences to her family. An autopsy has been ordered, and authorities are investigating the equipment she used to determine if any faults contributed to the accident.
In a separate incident, a pilot died in a plane crash in New South Wales, Australia, moments after eight skydivers safely jumped from the aircraft. The pilot, Paul Smith, lost his life when the plane he was piloting crashed in Moruya. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, which left the plane in bushland and the wing on George Bass Drive.
