A woman from a town near Bedford, Georgia Lee, believed she was a 17-year-old college student who was single. However, upon being asked about her age, she realized she had lost five years of memories and was actually 22, with a boyfriend and a university degree.

In 2018, Georgia, now 29, started experiencing severe headaches that persisted for about two weeks. After sending a confusing text to her partner, Laurence Calvert, while he was away, she was found disoriented by her father. Rushed to the hospital, Georgia was diagnosed with Encephalitis, a condition caused by brain inflammation.

The illness caused Georgia to lose memories of the past five years, including her time in school, passing her driving test, and completing her university degree. Despite spending weeks in the hospital, she only remembers the days before her diagnosis. With the support of family and friends, she pieced together her lost memories using photos and stories.

Although Georgia had to relearn driving and rebuild her relationship with Laurence, they eventually got engaged and plan to marry. She still battles daily exhaustion and memory loss from the ages of 17 to 22. Georgia remains grateful for the support received from the Encephalitis International charity.

Recently, Georgia and Laurence appeared on Channel 4’s The Dog House to find a furry companion, aiming to boost Georgia’s confidence post-diagnosis. While they didn’t find a match on the show, they are hopeful about welcoming a dog into their home soon.
