Fans are shying away from Jake Paul’s contentious bout with Gervonta Davis as ticket prices have been reduced by half. The duo is scheduled to face off in Miami on November 14 in an exhibition match that has faced criticism mainly due to the significant weight difference between the fighters. Paul, who primarily competes at cruiserweight (200lbs), stepped up to heavyweight for his victory over Mike Tyson last November.
On the other hand, ‘Tank’, the American boxer, typically fights in the lightweight division (135lbs). Amid confusion over the regulations, Nakisa Bidarian, the co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, recently revealed that the exhibition will consist of a 10-round bout with three-minute rounds and a maximum weight limit of 195lb, with both fighters wearing 12-ounce gloves.
Despite the fight’s specifications, fan interest seems lacking, with ticket prices dropping significantly just over two weeks before the event. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster, Viagogo, and Stubhub, with Viagogo offering the cheapest tickets at £139 ($186) on October 15.
Ticket prices have fluctuated dramatically since then. For instance, the most expensive ringside ticket was priced at £4,043 ($5,413), while StubHub’s cheapest tickets were at £131 ($223), with ringside seats going for £9,480 ($12,686). As of October 30, Ticketmaster’s cheapest standard admission ticket is £69.58 ($91.50), and the priciest ringside seat is £2,080 ($2,736), while the Diamond VIP Package costs £22,807 ($30,000).
During a press conference last month, Paul expressed his determination to secure a knockout victory in November, aiming for one of the most viral knockouts ever. Davis, on the other hand, emphasized his speed advantage over Paul, predicting a tough fight due to the height difference.
The Paul vs. Davis showdown is set for November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Florida, with exact fight times to be announced closer to the event. The event will be broadcast on Netflix, available to all subscribers without additional charges. Netflix subscription plans range from £5.99 to £18.99 per month.
