Emma Raducanu has made her first public statement since being selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming United Cup in January. The former US Open champion will partner with Jack Draper for the mixed-gender tournament.
Both players had to end their seasons prematurely, with Raducanu citing medical reasons for her withdrawal and Draper dealing with an arm issue. This will mark their debut at the United Cup, as Raducanu opted to skip the Billie Jean King Cup in favor of individual competitions in Asia.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the opportunity, Raducanu stated, “I am thrilled to participate in the United Cup with Team GB. It’s a unique chance to represent my country and enjoy the experience.” Draper also shared his excitement, looking forward to competing in Australia and discovering new cities like Perth or Sydney.
Raducanu faced challenges during the Asian swing post-US Open, including health issues that led to her withdrawal from the last two tournaments of 2025. However, she has ample time to recover before the United Cup begins on January 2. On the other hand, Draper, recovering from an arm injury sustained after Wimbledon, is set to return at the UTS London event in December.
Following their exhibition matches, Raducanu and Draper are gearing up to kick off their 2026 seasons at the United Cup before aiming for the Australian Open.
