“2025: From Trump’s Spectacle to Labour’s Triumphs”

Published on

In a tumultuous year from its challenging beginning to its embarrassing conclusion, the spotlight was firmly on The Trump in 2025. From early threats to Greenland and Canada to later suing the BBC, with a mix of global conflicts and tariff disputes, the year was marked by an orange-tinted spectacle.

Domestically, racial tensions flared, prison escapes occurred, and Nigel Farage’s popularity soared. Despite facing constant criticism, the Labour government made strides in reducing NHS waiting lists, increasing the minimum wage, lifting children out of poverty, improving EU relations, and reclaiming control of railways. 2025 witnessed a mix of triumphs and setbacks.

Celebratory moments included the unexpected slap Emmanuel Macron received from his wife, revelations about Nigel Farage’s past, and the introduction of the Hillsborough Law. Particularly satisfying was the demotion of the entitled Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, showcasing a shift in status quo.

On the flip side, there were cringe-worthy instances such as a distasteful ad, David Beckham’s knighthood, and controversial remarks from public figures like Robert Jenrick and Rio Ferdinand. The most disheartening visual was the massive fly-tipping eyesore in Oxfordshire, epitomizing a decline in societal values.

Among the memorable quotes, Katy Perry’s post-spaceflight reflections and Gregg Wallace’s response to complaints stood out. However, Jack Osbourne’s poignant tribute to his father, Ozzy, resonated the most, emphasizing a life lived to the fullest.

Recognizing exceptional individuals, Ricky Gervais’s charitable contributions, Gary Grant’s employee-focused business transition, and Ahmed al Ahmed’s heroic intervention at Bondi displayed acts of kindness and bravery. Their actions stood in stark contrast to the self-serving behaviors of various affluent personalities throughout the year.

In the realm of women, Saoirse Ronan and Aimee Lou Wood stood out for their outspokenness. Yet, Virginia Giuffre’s legacy of courage and truth-telling against powerful figures left a lasting impact.

Conversely, figures like Piotr Szczerek, Peter Mandelson, Elon Musk, and Gianni Infantino faced criticism for their actions, contributing negatively to society. Among women, Liz Truss, Hannah Ingram-Moore, and The Duchess of Sussex drew ire for their questionable decisions, with Sarah Ferguson’s leaked email creating significant controversy.

Amidst the year’s events, moments of humor provided comic relief. Paul McCartney’s quirky observation, a prank involving fake council letters, and an absurd tariff decision by Donald Trump added lighter notes to an eventful year.
