A prominent chain of pharmacies on the high street successfully rescued 60 branches of another pharmacy company from financial collapse. Allied Pharmacies has taken over the management of these 60 Jhoots Pharmacies locations, many of which are currently closed. However, Allied has assured the public of its commitment to restoring essential pharmacy services at these sites.
This acquisition expands Allied’s presence to approximately 210 branches spanning across England and Wales. The company emphasized the importance of community pharmacies in promoting public health and well-being, acknowledging the impact of closures on vulnerable individuals reliant on local healthcare services.
In a recent development, Members of Parliament were informed about Jhoots facing challenges leading to pharmacy closures, potentially depriving communities of crucial health services. Allegations surfaced regarding staff facing payment issues due to financial difficulties.
The ownership of Jhoots Pharmacies is divided between brothers Manjit and Sarbjit Jhooty, with around 150 branches reported in the UK. Manjit Jhooty, through his companies Pasab and Jhoots Healthcare, operates over 20 Jhoots branches and refuted any operational issues. Sarbjit Jhooty owns the remaining 129 branches.
Manjit Jhooty assured that his pharmacies remain solvent and operational, serving their local communities without disruption. Meanwhile, Sarbjit Jhooty acknowledged workforce challenges and assured that steps are being taken to address the issues. The press has reached out to Jhoots for further comments.
