“Toto Wolff Skips Mexico GP for Wife’s Memoir Premiere”

Published on

Toto Wolff, the head of Mercedes F1, decided to skip the Mexico City Grand Prix and instead attended a showing of his wife Susie’s newly-released memoir, Driven, at London’s Lyceum Theatre. This was a departure from his usual presence at Formula 1 events. Susie’s story, chronicling her journey from the Scottish Highlands to the pinnacle of motorsport, captivated the audience of around 2,000 attendees.

Susie’s motorsport career began at a young age in karting, eventually progressing to single-seat racing in 2001 with Formula Renault. Despite facing challenges like an ankle injury during her first Formula 3 season with Alan Docking Racing, she persevered. She then competed in DTM from 2006 to 2012 before joining Williams as a development driver in Formula 1.

Notably, Susie made history by becoming the first woman to participate in a Formula 1 weekend since 1992 at the 2014 British Grand Prix. Following her retirement from racing in 2015, she became a brand ambassador for Mercedes and took on leadership roles in Formula E’s Venturi Racing team and the F1 Academy, an all-female racing series.

While Wolff missed the Mexico City GP, Mercedes faced a challenging race with Kimi Antonelli finishing sixth, closely followed by George Russell. The race was won by McLaren’s Lando Norris, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen securing podium spots.

In the Drivers’ standings, Russell currently holds fourth place with 258 points, trailing Norris by 99 points, while Antonelli sits in seventh place with 97 points. In the Constructors’ standings, Mercedes occupies third place with 355 points, closely trailing Ferrari. However, McLaren leads the standings with 713 points from 13 victories and 30 podium finishes.

Sky has recently discounted its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, offering savings of £192 and over 1,400 live matches across the Premier League and EFL for the upcoming 2025/26 season. Sky will broadcast a minimum of 215 live Premier League games next season, an increase of up to 100 matches.
