“Kingdom of Kubala: ‘African Tribe’ Defies Scottish Eviction Order”

Published on

A group known as the Kingdom of Kubala, describing themselves as an ‘African tribe,’ are refusing to leave a remote Scottish woodland despite being served an eviction notice by the local council. The council took legal action to remove them from the land on the outskirts of Jedburgh, where they had previously been staying on private property just a few meters away.

When sheriff officers arrived, the group simply relocated to a new camp on council-owned land. Led by Kofi Offeh, who goes by the title King Atehene, along with his wife Jean Gasho as Queen Nandi and their associate Kaura Taylor, the tribe remained at the site, singing songs around a campfire with tents and camping gear still in place.

Despite the council’s order to vacate the premises, the trio showed no sign of leaving. The handmaiden, Taylor, mentioned that the king would only speak to the media if gifts were presented. Previously, Taylor had left her family in Texas and joined the tribe with her daughter.

The council is planning to obtain a sheriff’s order to remove the group as they have not complied with the deadline. The tribe has been resisting previous eviction attempts and insists on staying to reclaim land they believe was taken from their ancestors. Offeh claims descent from “the Messiah” and rejects the authority of UK laws, stating they follow the laws of their God, Yahowah.

The group’s mission is to revive a kingdom reportedly eradicated in 1596, attributing their expulsion to Queen Elizabeth I expelling “black Jacobites” from England. Offeh rebuffs claims that their cause is a fantasy, asserting they are fulfilling prophecy. Gasho expressed defiance, stating they have faced imprisonment for their beliefs and are not afraid of further challenges.

In a Facebook post, the tribe affirmed their resilience, declaring that the Kingdom of Kubala is indomitable. Despite the legal proceedings initiated by the council, Offeh remains steadfast in his beliefs, trusting in divine protection. The council spokesperson confirmed the initiation of the legal process to remove the occupants from the land.
