O2 has officially announced that millions of its customers are receiving a complimentary upgrade for faster service. This upgrade introduces accelerated 5G+ connectivity to users throughout the UK, offering improved mobile coverage and significantly faster download speeds. O2 guarantees a 50% increase in speed compared to the older 4G network.

Apart from speed and reliability enhancements, the upgrade is expected to prolong device battery life by reducing power consumption. With the elimination of the need to connect to both 4G and 5G networks concurrently, devices can operate more efficiently. Unlike conventional 5G, which relies on 4G support, the new 5G+ service does not have this requirement.

Unlike other networks, this service is available to all O2 customers on any plan, boosting performance in busy areas and major venues hosting large crowds. Virgin Media O2 is dedicated to enhancing their network and ensuring a more reliable experience for users, investing £2 million daily to prepare customers for upcoming mobile innovations.

To check local availability, users can visit O2’s website and enter their postcode. Some popular 5G+ ready devices include the iPhone 15, 16 (including 16e), and 17 ranges, as well as the Google Pixel 9 series (including Fold) and Pixel 10 series (including Fold).
