The upcoming state visit of US President Donald Trump in the UK has caught public attention. President Trump, the 47th POTUS, arrived in the UK on September 16 and is scheduled to depart on September 18. His brief stay may be a relief to many, especially considering the past incident involving Queen Elizabeth II during his previous visit.
There was controversy when Trump walked ahead of Queen Elizabeth, obstructing her from the view of cameras, which stirred public anger then and continues to do so now. Concerns linger that he may repeat such behavior when meeting British officials this week.
On a Reddit discussion, users debated the impoliteness of Trump’s actions towards the Queen, with some criticizing his lack of courtesy. Individuals expressed opinions ranging from labeling him as self-centered to lacking manners, irrespective of political affiliations.
Some suggested that Trump’s behavior might have been intentional, possibly making a statement rather than displaying proper etiquette. However, others dismissed this theory, referring to him as simply being disrespectful to the then 92-year-old monarch.
In his book “A Voyage Around The Queen,” Craig Brown mentioned that the late Queen found President Trump to be “very rude” and particularly disliked his constant glances over her shoulder, seemingly seeking someone more interesting.
During his current state visit, Trump is expected to meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles III.
